The World Boxing Championship to be held from 4 to 14 September will have to undergo a gender test. According to World Boxing, ‘This test will be done through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test or its equivalent genetic screening test, which will examine the presence or absence of Y chromosome to determine the penis of birth time, the chairman of World Boxing, Boris Van Der Worst said,’ We want to honor the dignity of all persons. But, we have the responsibility in sports like boxing to maintain fairness in the safety and competition of the players.

Khalif has said many times that she is a woman from birth and she has participated in women’s amateur boxing for almost a decade.

Khalif refused to participate in the World Boxing Tournament to be held in the Netherlands in June, when the organization first announced a gender test plan. Later van der Worst apologized for taking the name of Khalif especially.

World Athletics has implemented SRY gene test for women Earlier, the World Athletics Council has implemented SRY gene test for women athletes. The players who do not go through this test will not be able to participate in world ranking competitions. These rules will be applicable from 1 September 2025. Women athletes will not be able to participate in the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo from 13 September.
