India’s women’s boxers have performed three medals for the country by performing brilliantly at the World Boxing Championship 2025. Jasmine Lamoria (57 kg) and Nupur Sheoran (+80 kg) and Pooja Rani (80 kg) have made a minimum bronze medal by making it to the semi -finals. However, two -time world champion Nikhat Zarine lost in the quarterfinals at the hands of Turkish star boxer Busu Naz Kakiroglu.
Nikhat’s campaign ends India’s star boxer Nikhat Zarine (51 kg) suffered a defeat against Turkish Bous Naz Kakiroglu. Nikhat lost from Greece Decision (5–0) and his journey stopped here.
Jasmine beat Uzbekistan boxer 5–0 World Boxing Cup gold medalist Jasmine Lamboria defeated Uzbekistan’s Khumorobonu Mamajonova 5–0 to enter the semi-finals. Taking advantage of long stature and access, Jasmine put the command of the match in his hand from the beginning. He retained his lead till the end and confirmed his place in the semi -finals.
Nupur’s match in semi -finals with Turkish boxer Seyma Duzhatas Nupur Sheoran, granddaughter of veteran Indian boxer Hava Singh, in the quarter -finals of the women’s 80+ kg category, defeated Uzbekistan’s Oltinoy Sotimboa 4: 1 to advance to the semi -finals. Nupur started well in the first round and took an edge. In the second round, Uzbekistan’s former World Youth Silver Medalist and Sotimboa, who won the bronze medal in Astana, tried to return and reduced the difference. Nupur maintained the lead in the third and final rounds and won. However, in the final round, one point was deducted when foul from both the players. Now in the semi -finals, Nupur will face Türkiye’s Seyma Dujhatas.
Poonam Rani’s close victory In the 80 kg category, Poonam Rani of India defeated Poland’s Amelia Koterska 3–2 in a tough match. With this victory, Poonam also reached the semi -finals and ensured medals for the country.
