Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar has decided to leave his home State Tamil Nadu before the 2025-26 domestic season. The 34-year-old Vijay has been given a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (NOC). Vijay recently played against Himachal Pradesh for TNCA Presidents XI in the first round of the Buchi Babu tournament in Chennai, but he was out of the team against Maharashtra. Subsequently, he decided to change the state to get more opportunities in all formats.
The first two matches were not available in the 2024-25 season Vijay did not play Tamil Nadu’s first two Ranji Trophy matches in the 2024-25 season and had to sit on the bench in several matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Vijay played for Tamil Nadu for 13 years and during this time he gave the team in Vijay Hazare, Deodhar Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Trophy.
After Ranji debut in 2012, he played an important role in the middle order with B Indrajit. In the Ranji Trophy, he scored 3142 runs in 81 innings at an average of 44.25, including 11 centuries and 16 half -centuries. Apart from this, he also took 43 wickets with his medium-teej bowling.
In 2014-15, Vijay made headlines by scoring 577 runs in 11 innings in Ranji at an average of 57.70 and made it to the India A team. In 2019, he also joined India’s ODI World Cup team. Recently he scored an unbeaten 150 against Chandigarh in 2024-25 Ranji season. In the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), he started bowling mystery spin with Varun Chakraborty, including changes such as Carrom Ball and Rong-One.
