1. Third satellite launch pad to be built in Sriharikota for Rs 3,985 crore
The Central Government today on January 16 approved the construction of the third launch pad at Sri Harikota in Andhra Pradesh. It will cost Rs 3,985 crore to prepare this launch pad. It will be designed to place heavy satellites in orbit.
The new launchpad is estimated to be completed in 48 months. At present there are 2 launch pads in Sriharikota.
2. India becomes the fourth country to dock in space
India has become the fourth country to successfully dock two spacecraft in space. ISRO said that the docking experiment was completed on the morning of 16 January. ISRO had launched the Space Docking Experiment Mission on 30 December 2024 at 10 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. Under this, two spacecraft were deployed 470 km above the earth with the PSLV-C60 rocket.
The SpaDeX satellites are 15 meters apart from each other and are taking stunning pictures and videos of each other. This photo has been shared by ISRO.

1. First list of Delhi School Admission will be released tomorrow
The first merit list for admission in nursery, KG and first class in private schools of Delhi will be released tomorrow i.e. on 17th January. Along with this, a query resolution window will also be opened from January 18 to 27. After this, if needed, the second merit list will be released on 3rd February.
2. Register for UPJEE 2025 by 30th April
JEECUP i.e. Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh has started the registration process for UPJEE 2025 exam. For this, candidates can register by visiting jeecup.admissions.nic.in till 30th April. Its correction window will be opened between May 1 and 6. Its admit cards will be released on 14th May.
