Please tell that Balwan Poonia died on the evening of 11 September at Gangaram Hospital in Delhi. He was struggling with the disease and was at home for almost a year. He was admitted to the hospital when his health deteriorated.
On September 12, he was cremated in the ancestral village Khudan, in which son Bajrang Poonia and other family members were present. He was lit by elder son Harendra Poonia.

- Bajrang’s wrestling coach Virendra Singh said- When Bajrang was younger, Balwan left him only then. He himself used to do wrestling. I met him on 6 September. He was then on ventilator. He still picked up my phone. When I refused them, I started saying that my man would have to pick up the phone.
- Arjun Avardi Volleyball player Amir Singh said- We pray to God and give peace to their soul. Also, give the whole family of Bajrang to endure this sorrow.
