The 18th season of IPL will begin on 22 March. The 19th match of this season was to be played on 6 March at the Eden Gardens between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Jants. But now there is talk of extending this match due to Ram Navami. The city police said that on the day of Ram Navami, thousands of processions will not be provided security in the state due to the process.
It is difficult to handle 65,000 people in the match- CAB president
BJP leader Suvendu official said that more than 20,000 processions will be taken out in West Bengal on Ram Navami. Therefore, there will be a need to keep tight security in the entire state. On this matter, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehashish Ganguly said, we have held 2 meetings with the police. But even after this, the green signal for the match has not been received. Due to lack of security, it will be difficult to handle a crowd of 65,000 people in the match.
The tournament will be an opening match at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
KKR’s match was also ahead last season also
Earlier, a match in Kolkata was carried forward. Last year, the date of the match between KKR and Rajasthan Royals on Ram Navami had to be carried forward due to Ram Navami.
Ajinkya Rahane became the new captain of KKR
KKR will field this season with his new captain Ajinkya Rahane. Last year, the team won the title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. But this year he was bought by Punjab Kings in the mega auction. The opening match of this season between KKR and RCB will be played at Eden Gardens. The opening ceremony may include singer Shreya Ghoshal and actress Disha Patani.
