Today, Delhi Police has detailed 15-20 students of Jamia Millia Islamia University between 4 to 5 am on February 13. Since then, the protest of university students continues. Protest students say that students have been released at 6 pm after 12 hours of the incident.
Today, the students sat outside the police stations against the students’ detention. Students were adamant on demanding the release of their comrades. Late in the evening, the police released the three students.
This action took place after a complaint from the University Administration. The university says that these students were protesting for the last 3 days without permission.
In fact, disciplinary action was taken against 3 students of the university Saurabh Tripathi (PHD – Hindi Department), Jyoti (PHD – Hindi Department) and Niranjan (Law), against which the students were protesting against last Monday.
Controversy to celebrate the violence in university campus in 2019
During the protests over CAA-NRC at Jamia University on 15-16 December 2019, the police entered the library and lathi-charged. Since then, the anniversary of this day is being celebrated every year on the university campus. During this time, common students gather and discuss this day’s police repression and march is released on the university campus.
On the night of December 15, 2019, Delhi Police entered the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia University and lathi-charged students protesting against CAA-NRC.
Like every year, some students wanted to celebrate it this year, but the university administration did not allow it. Despite not getting permission, some students were adamant on doing the program with their other colleagues. Due to this, they were given ‘show causes notice’ by the university.
After not receiving a satisfactory response to the show Cause notice, the University Complant Committee was going to take action against 3 students, due to which 15 to 20 students were demonstrating from Monday, 10 February.
Students accused of congratulating classes
University Administration says that these students have also obstructed the peaceful operation of classes in the academic block of the college. Also, they were preventing other students from going to the Central Library. In addition, classes were motivating the common students to boys.
Students were detained at around 4 pm
In Islamic Studies, PHD student Waqar says that the University Administration tried his best to end the Protest. Since Monday, the administration has closed the canteen, cut the power and hang the locks in the washroom.

In the year 2022, Jamia University Administration brought a momorandum. According to this memorandum, it was said to stop any kind of protest, rally or all within the campus.
Protest of students continues with 4 demands
Since this morning, all the university students are protesting at the gate of campus along with 4 demands at the gate of Kalka ji, Badarpur and Jamia Nagar police stations.
Jamia’s PhD student Sanam told that he has 4 demands-
1. 3 PhDs issued to 3 PhD students should be withdrawn.
2. Memorandum prohibited the Protest within the campus should be canceled.
3. A fine of Rs 50,000 should be abolished for installing wallpapers or posters on the walls on the campus.
4. It should be ensured that there is no disciplinary action against the students participating in any protest in future.
