South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the first T20 of the tri-series. Player of the Match Dewald Brevis scored 41 runs off 17 balls and won their team. Zimbabwe scored 141 runs in Harare on Monday. South Africa lost 5 wickets and achieved the target in the 16th over itself.
Zimbabwe’s poor start South Africa won the toss and chose bowling. Zimbabwe started poorly. Vesle Madhevere 1 and wicketkeeper Clin Madande returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs. Brian Bennett and Alexander Raza brought the team to 50 runs. Bennett was dismissed for 30 runs.
Captain Sikander Raza again imposed a fifty and along with Ryan Berl brought the team beyond 120 runs. Berl was dismissed for 29 runs. Raza was not out after scoring 54 runs. He brought the team to 141 runs. Tashinga Masekiva was dismissed for 9 runs.

3 wickets to Linde Left arm spinner George Linde from South Africa took 3 wickets for just 10 runs. Wright Arm Pesar Lungi Egidi, Left Arm Pesar Nandre Burger and leg spinner Kabayamji Peter took 1-1 wickets. Corbin Bosch and Endile Symelne did not get any success.
Harman and Brevis won In front of the 142 -run target, South Africa lost 3 wickets for 38 runs. Captain Rasi Van Dar Dasan 16 and Risa Hendrix were dismissed for 11 runs. Luhan Drais could not even open a Pretorian account. Rubin Harman then took the innings with Dewald Brevis and brought the team to 100 runs.
Brevis scored 41 runs by hitting 1 four and 5 sixes off 17 balls. Harman was dismissed for 45 runs off 37 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six. Finally, Corbin Bosch scored 23 and George Linde scored 3 runs in the 16th over. Richard Nagarwa from Zimbabwe took 3 wickets and Trevor Gwandu took 2 wickets.
South Africa won the match in 15.5 overs.
Second match on 16 July South Africa won 2 points by winning the first T20 of the tri-series. The second match of the series will be played on 16 July in South Africa and New Zealand seed Harare. The final of the series will be held in Harare on 26 July.
