Afridi spoke on a Pakistan TV channel on the Handshek controversy of the Asia Cup.
Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi said that India is trying to become the next Israel. He accused the Modi government of playing Hindu-Muslim cards.
On Tuesday, on a Pakistani TV channel on the handshake controversy in the Asia Cup, Afridi said that as long as the BJP remains in power, the same politics will continue.
He said- Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s thinking is positive and he wants to improve relations with all countries, especially Pakistan through dialogue.
Controversy erupted due to not joining hands of players of both countries
There was a match between India and Pakistan on 14 September. The Government of India was allowed to hold an Indo-Pak match on 21 August. The government said- There is no ban on playing with Pakistan in the multinational tournament. There will be no bilateral series in both countries.
However, on the day of the match, the players chose the way not to join hands for protesting. The Pakistan Cricket Board had filed a formal complaint on this, which was rejected by the ICC.
Afridi alleged that Indian cricketers were ordered from above not to join hands with Pakistani players. He said that boycott campaigns were already going on on social media and due to people, BCCI and players took this step.
Afridi claimed that he did not want to blame the players, rather he got its order.
In the Group Stage match of the Asia Cup 2025 held on Sunday, the Indian cricket team refused to join hands with Pakistani players. Even after the toss, both the captains did not join hands.
