Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis is against the impact player rule in the SA20 league. They do not want this rule to be introduced in this league.
Speaking to the media ahead of the third season of SA20, league ambassador Jacques Kallis said, I don’t like the impact player rule because I think it reduces the opportunities for all-rounders. We are trying to develop all-rounders in South Africa, and this rule diminishes that role. So I wouldn’t like to see it in SA20.
Eastern Cape can defend the title Answering Bhaskar’s question during the conversation, Kallis said, it is going to be difficult for Sunrisers Eastern Cape to defend the title for the third consecutive season. They managed to save it the second time, which was fantastic. Doing it the third time will be even more difficult because now every team will be after you for it. The Eastern Cape’s plans have been good, and they have a cool coach who has gelled very well with the team. I am confident that they can defend their title. It will be interesting to see how they do it.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape won both the inaugural SA20 seasons The first two seasons of this league have been won by the Sunrisers Eastern Cape team under the captaincy of Aiden Markram. In the first season, Eastern Cape won the title by defeating Pretoria Capitals. Whereas last season the team lifted the trophy for the second consecutive time by defeating Durban Super Giants in the final.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the 2024 title by defeating Durban Super Giants by 89 runs. The team also became champion in the first season in 2023.
