Sreesanth was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup winning Team India.
Former Team India fast bowler S Sreesanth has been banned by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) from all the activities of cricket for 3 years. They will no longer be able to be a part of any tournament or match related to cricket as a player or coach cricket in the state.
KCA said, Sreesanth had said in a TV debate recently that the Kerala Board is the major reason for Sanju Samson not being selected in Team India. Due to them, Samson could not be part of India’s squad for the Champions Trophy.
Notice was also sent to Sreesanth
After Sreesanth’s statement about Samson, KCA banned the former bowler at the General Meeting on 30 April. The board also sent notice to many more people including Sreesanth in this case. The people also included Sanju’s father Vishwanath Samson.
KCA is now considering sending legal notice to Samson’s father. He also convicted the board to some extent after Sanju was not found in the Champions Trophy squad. However, Sreesanth completely convicted KCA.
Sreesanth said in a TV debate that Sanju Samson did not get a chance in Team India due to the Kerala Cricket Association.
Sreesanth is the team owner in Kerala Cricket League
Sreesanth Kerala Cricket League’s team is the co-owner of Kollam Aries. KCA official Vinod Kumar said, ‘Former fast bowlers of Team India will no longer be able to be a part of any kind of cricket activity in the state for 3 years. He will remain the owner of the franchise, but will stay away from the activity related to cricket.
Sreesanth’s answer was wrong in the TV debate. He told KCA the major reason for Sanju’s exit from Team India. We have sent notice to some people including Sreesanth. We were also accused that we did not give permission to Karun Nair to play from Kerala. These allegations were wrong, because Karun always played for Karnataka, he did not play cricket from Kerala even at junior level. Therefore, there is no question of playing domestic cricket from Kerala.
Sreesanth Kerala Cricket League’s team is the co-owner of Kollam Aries. The team also became the champion in the first season last year.
Sreesanth’s wife said- will reply to notice
Sreesanth’s wife Bhuvaneshwari Kumari told Cricbuj, ‘We have not received any notice from KCA till now. We got information about the ban from the media. Sreesanth was just supporting his fellow cricketer. As soon as we get the official notice of KCA, we will see how to answer it.
Sreesanth won 2 World Cups to India
42 -year -old Sreesanth was banned by BCCI for a lifetime, convicting fixing in the IPL of 2012. However, in 2013 itself, the Supreme Court acquitted him of all the allegations. After which he has played in the Legends Cricket League from Asia-11 and India’s team.
Sreesanth played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20s for India. He was also part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup winning team. He has also played the Champions Trophy from India in 2006.
In the 2007 T20 World Cup semi-finals, Sreesanth (blue T-shirt) took 2 wickets for just 12 runs in 4 overs against Australia. He sent Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist to the pavilion.
Why did Sreesanth blame KCA?
In fact, Team India was selected in January this year for the Champions Trophy in February this year. During this time, Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) dropped Sanju Samson out of the BCCI domestic tournament team. That too when Sanju scored 2 centuries from India’s T20 team in South Africa in November last year.
Before the team selection, Sanju could not perform due to not being part of the team in domestic cricket. Because of which BCCI did not think of giving him a place in the squad. Rishabh Pant got a chance in his place as a backup of wicketkeeper batter. Who could not play a single match. However, India won the title while being invincible in the tournament.
