He became an example all over the world, when he started running marathon internationally at the age of 90. His hard work and indomitable courage made him famous as ‘Turban Tornado’ (Turban Hurricane).
Fauja Singh completed his first marathon race at the age of 90. In 2004, he completed the London marathon at the age of 93. In 2011, at the age of 100, he completed the Toronto marathon and set a record in the 100+ category.
He is considered the oldest marathon runner ever, who completed many marathon races. Fauja Singh set an example of health, stamina and positive thinking during his career.
The death of son-daughter and wife forced to run Fauja Singh suffered many personal sorrows in his life, which inspired him to run again. In August 1994, his fifth son Kuldeep killed him in a construction accident and his wife and eldest daughter in 1992 put him in deep shock. These sufferings forced him to resolve to run again in 1995. In the 1990s, he moved to England and started living in Ilford with his son.
International marathon race started at the age of 89 At the age of 89, he started running seriously and started participating in the international marathon. When he first arrived at Redbridge, Essex for training, he came wearing a three-piece suit. The coach had to change his complete preparation, even clothes. Fauja Singh completed his first race as the London Marathon in 2000.

8 records made at the age of 100 At the age of 100, Fauja Singh set eight world records in a single day at a special event held in Toronto, Canada. He completed races ranging from 100 meters to 5000 meters with new parameters. 3 days later, he completed the Toronto Water Front Marathon and claimed that he was the first to complete the marathon at the age of 100.
His biography was launched in Turband Turnedado 2011 at the House of Lords in Britain. This year he became the oldest man in Peta’s campaign. In 2012, he became a honored guest at the 101 and running theme event held in Malaysia and was awarded The Brand Laure Award.
Retirement from competitive race A few weeks before the 102nd birthday in 2013, he completed the 10 km race in Hong Kong Marathon in 1 hour 32 minutes and announced his retirement from the competitive race. However, he also said that he would run for health, joy and charity.
