The Pakistan team canceled their press conference on Saturday before the match with India in the Asia Cup. A source of the tournament told PTI, Pakistan did so to avoid questions over the controversy of match referee Andy Pikeroft and Indian players not joining hands. The Super-4 match between the teams of India and Pakistan is to be held on Sunday. The match will also have Andy Pycroft Referee. A day before the match, Captain Suryakumar Yadav arrived at the press conference for India on Saturday. When he was asked about the match against Pakistan, he said without naming Pakistan, we are ready for Super-4 matches.

Earlier, Surya did not join hands with Pakistani captain Salman Aga in the group stage match held on 14 September. The Indian captain later said in the press conference, we have come here only to play the match and we gave the correct answer. Some things are also above sportsmanship. We stand with all the victims and their families of the Pahalgam terror attack and express their solidarity.

After this, the issue of not joining hands increased considerably and PCB even demanded the removal of the referee (Andy Picroft) from the tournament, although this did not happen.

There was a dispute after a group stage match Salman did not attend the Aga Post Match presentation to protest against Indian cricketers not joining hands with Pakistani players. Pakistan’s next match was to be held from UAE on 17 September, but the team complained to the ICC that the referee be removed.

PCB even said that the team would withdraw from the Asia Cup if the pikeroft is not removed. On the day of the match, PCB officials interacted with ICC and Match Referee. Due to which the match starting at 8 pm could start an hour late. The match referee was Picroft.

No one had reached the press conference even before the match with UAE PCB threatened to withdraw from the Asia Cup before the match against UAE. Said that the team will not play the match until the pikeroft is removed. Pakistan practiced before the UAE match on the advice of PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, but no one reached the team for a press conference.

Surya said- Arshadeep wanted to bat Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said that Arshdeep Singh wanted to bat in the match against Oman, so he did not come to bat. On Friday, India scored 188 runs after losing 8 wickets against Oman. Captain Suryakumar Yadav did not come to bat.

In the press conference, Surya said, “There were 2-3 overs left and Arshdeep Singh told me that he wants to bat, I said there is no problem.”
