Wrestler Sushil Kumar has surrendered in the evening in Rohini Court of Delhi today after the Supreme Court order.

Two -time Olympic medalist wrestler Sushil Kumar of Haryana surrendered in Rohini court of Delhi on Monday evening following the Supreme Court order. He is accused in the Junior National Wrestling Champion Sagar Dhankhar murder case.

The Supreme Court bench Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra quashed the Delhi High Court’s bail order on March 4 and accepted the petition of Ashok Dhankhar, father of the deceased Sagar. The court ordered Sushil Kumar to surrender within 7 days.

Sagar Dhankhar was killed in a fight due to property dispute. According to the postmortem report, Sagar died of a serious head injury. Following the court order, Sushil Kumar reached the court with about 40 wrestlers with him at around 5 pm on Monday evening. During this time, Delhi Police conducted videography of the entire incident. After this Sushil Kumar was sent to jail.

On this decision, Ashok Dhankar, father of the deceased Sagar Dhankhar, expressed satisfaction saying that “our honor has been saved from this decision of the court.”

  • Relief from Supreme Court’s decision: Sagar’s father said that he is very happy with the Supreme Court’s decision and considers it a good decision. He believes that this is expected to give them justice soon. He said that more than four years have passed, but now he feels that the hearing in the case will move forward and justice will be given.
  • Demand for strictness in judgment: Sagar’s father expressed his demand that whatever decision is made, it should be pronounced as soon as possible. He said that the case should be closed and the accused should be punished the harshest. He also said that he wishes that the accused should be hanged.
  • Concern over the slow process of the case: He told that Sushil Kumar is sometimes getting a call from Khapas, sometimes calling Mahapanchayat and sometimes getting relatives for Rajinama. He further said that the hearing is taking place continuously, testimony is also going on, but the process is very slow. The Supreme Court has also decided after 6 hearing.

Bail was received from Delhi High Court: The Delhi High Court granted bail to Sushil Kumar, who was accused of wrestler Sagar murder case 5 months ago on a condition. Sagar Dhankar’s uncle Narendra said that a petition was filed in the Supreme Court two days later against the bail given by the Delhi High Court to Sushil. After hearing in the Supreme Court, the bail was canceled and ordered to surrender within a week.

Tihar was lodged in jail for 4 years: According to the information, Sushil Kumar was lodged in Tihar Jail for 4 years in Junior Wrestler Sagar Dhankhar murder case. 5 months ago, the High Court released him on the guarantee of a bond of 50 thousand and the same amount of the same amount. Sagar’s parents are constantly fighting for justice against Sushil and they demand that the son’s murder should be hanged only.

The attack took place in 2021: Sushil Kumar is accused of killing Sagar Dhankar and two of his friends in the parking lot of Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi in 2021, killing Sagar. Investigation revealed that the attack was caused by domination and property dispute among young wrestlers.

Interim bail was also received for surgery: In July 2023, Sushil also got an interim bail of 7 days for surgery. The Rohini court had ordered that during this time he would be with 24 hours 2 security personnel. This bail was from 23 July to 30 July, for which Sushil Kumar also had to fill a private bond of 1 lakh.
