Manoj said, it is a very emotional moment to say goodbye to the game for any athlete. He credited his coach Rajesh Kumar Rajaund for his sacrifice and guidance and described the basis of his success. Being emotional, he said, “If Rajesh Sir, I would not have recognized as an Olympian boxer. He showed me big dreams and removed every obstacle in my way to achieve them.”

Recalling his early struggles, Manoj said that as the son of the farmer and a soldier in the army, he never let limited resources come in the way of his ascendant and hard work. Coach Rajesh had only one goal- to increase the pride of his village Rajaund by making me the Olympian and Arjuna Award winner. I did not make poverty an excuse and remained firm on my goal. My whole life revolves around boxing.

Academy opened in Samasipur village Before his retirement, his coach Rajesh Kumar has established Manoj Kumar Boxing Academy in his name in Samasipur village on NIT-Kirmich Road in Kurukshetra to bring his legacy to the next generation. This academy will become a medium to share our experiences and lessons with young athletes, who will win medals for India in the Olympics.

Coach made the king of ring Manoj thanked his coach Rajesh Kumar, his brother and boxing partner Mukesh Kumar, his family, Indian Railways, Boxing Federation and all the coaches who guided him for years. It was because of his encouragement that I became the king of the ring.

Manoj said that after retirement, he will dedicate himself to train youth and take Indian boxing to new heights. His guidance and experience will guide the boxers coming.
