The Education Department (DoE) is starting the admission process for Nursery, KG and First Class from today i.e. 28th November 2024. These forms will be filled by March 2025.
In private schools, 25 percent seats will be reserved for children from Economically Backward Section (EWS), Disadvantage Group (DG) and children with disabilities. A separate list will be issued for such children.
Parents can fill the form for admission by visiting the official website edudel.nic.in. The last date to apply for Delhi Nursery Admission 2025 is 20 December 2024.
There are approximately 1,741 private schools in Delhi.

Admission Registration Fee
The registration fee for Delhi Nursery Admission 2025 is only Rs 25. Parents will have to pay Rs 25 for the school for which they will fill the admission form. This payment will be in online mode.
Admission Age Limit
For nursery admission, the child’s age should be less than four years. This age must be less than five years for KG class and less than six years for class first.
Admission Criteria
Distance of home from school is also an important criterion for parents in nursery admission. Along with this, being a single child, girl child, single girl child, having siblings in school or being single parents is also an important criterion. There are separate criteria for Minority, Economically Backward Class (EWS) and Disadvantage Group (DG) in nursery admission.
Admission Point System
A 100 point system is adopted for nursery admission, in which points are given according to different criteria.
- More marks are given for lesser distance of school from home.
- 50 marks are given if the child’s house is within a radius of 6 km from the school.
- 40 marks are given if the child’s house is within a radius of 6 to 8 km.
- 30 marks are given if the child’s home is within a radius of 8 to 15 km.

The first list of students selected for nursery admission will be released on January 17, 2025. The second list will be released in February.
FAQ questions related to nursery admission
Question: What is the age for nursery admission in Delhi?
answer: According to DoE, for admission in pre-school (Nursery), pre-primary (KG) and class 1, the minimum age should be 3 years, 4 years and 5 years as on March 31. The maximum age for pre-school, pre-primary and class 1 is below 4 years, below 5 years and below 6 years respectively.
Question: Will it be necessary to purchase a prospectus?
answer: It is not necessary to purchase the prospectus along with the admission form and parents will be required to pay only Rs 25 as registration fee.
Question: What is the last date of Nursery Admission 2025-26 registration?
answer:
- The last date for submission of registration form for general category seats is December 20, 2024. After this, the department will have time till January 3 to upload the information of children applying for admission under open seats.
- After this, the marks of the children will be uploaded till January 10. The first list of selected students will be uploaded by January 17 and the window for questions related to allotment will be open from January 18 to January 27.
- The second list of selected children will be released on 3 February.
- The solution window for this will be open from 5th February to 11th February. The admission process will be completed on the official website on March 14, 2025.
Question: What are the necessary documents related to admission?
answer: Ration card or smart card issued in the name of parents (child’s name from mother or father’s name)
- Certificate of the child or his parents
- Voter Card (EPIC) of one of the parents
- Electricity bill/MTNL telephone bill/water bill/passport in the name of parent or child
- Aadhaar Card/UID Card issued in the name of either parent
Question: What if there is a tie during shortlisting?
answer: In case of tie between applications for admission to Nursery, KG and Class 1, lottery will be conducted using computerized system or by draw in the presence of parents. The circular states that the draw will be videographed and the school will retain this footage.
Question: Are there any discounts for students?
answer: Relaxation in minimum and maximum age for classes can be given for admission up to 30 days. Parents can contact school heads or principals to ask for age relaxation through manual application.
