Novak Djokovic left Roger Federer behind in terms of playing most matches.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic has made it to the third round of Australian Open 2025 by defeating Jaime Faria of Portugal. Serbia’s star tennis player defeated Faria 6-1, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 at the Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday.
This was Djokovic’s 430th singles match of his Grand Slam career. He has become the first player to touch this figure. He left behind Swiss player Roger Federer (429). America’s Serena Williams (423) is at third place in the list.
Djokovic defeated Jaime Faria of Portugal in the second round match.
Alcaraz won in straight sets Four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz reached the third round with a win on Wednesday. The third seed from Spain defeated Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan in straight sets. He won the second round match played at the Margaret Court Arena by 6-0, 6-1, 6-4. This match lasted for 81 minutes.

Djokovic won three Grand Slams last year Djokovic won three of the four Grand Slam tournaments last year, including the Australian Open in January, the French Open in June and the US Open in September. First player to win 24 Grand Slams in the Open Era Djokovic is the first player in the Open Era to win 24 Grand Slams. He made this record by winning the US Open in September this year. Earlier, Djokovic was equal to Serena Williams (23 Grand Slams) in terms of winning the most Grand Slams (Men’s and Women’s Singles). Margaret Court has also won a total of 24 Grand Slams, but 13 of those titles were in her name before the Open Era.
The Open Era in tennis began in 1968 when all players (amateur and professional) were allowed to participate in all four Grand Slams. This is called Open Era.
