Gukesh current world champion Gukesh won the title by defeating Ding Liran of China 7.5-6.5 in the World Chase Championships played in Singapore in December. Gukesh is the first player in the world to win the World Chase Championship at the age of 18. Earlier in 1985, Russia’s Gary Casparov won the title at the age of 22.

Gukesh won the title by defeating the Chinese player in the 14th game. The championship final started on 25 November, 13 games were played between the two by 11 December.
