Nigeria defeated New Zealand for the first time in cricket at any level.
A big upset was seen on the third day of the Under-19 Women’s World Cup. African country Nigeria defeated Test playing nation New Zealand by 2 runs in the group stage match. Due to rain, the match was played in 13 overs each. Nigeria scored 65 runs, in reply the Whiteferns team could score only 63 runs.
The tournament started in Malaysia from 18 January. On Monday, 6 group stage matches were played in the World Cup. New Zealand had to face defeat in Kuching. In the other match of the day, Samoa’s team got all out after scoring 16 runs against South Africa.

Scotland won a close match against Nepal Three more matches were also played on Monday. America and England had no problem in winning their respective matches. Whereas Scotland defeated Nepal by 1 wicket in a close match.
- Ireland were all out after scoring 75 runs in Johor. America achieved the target by losing only 1 wicket in 9.4 overs.
- Nepal team was all out after scoring 73 runs in Bangi. It took 18.4 overs for Scotland to chase. However, the team lost 9 wickets to reach the target.
- In Johor, Pakistan team was limited to 66 runs. England achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 9.2 overs.
