Neeraj Chopra crossed the 90 meter barrier in the third attempt.

India’s star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra threw 90.23 meters in the Doha Diamond League. He scored 88.44 meters in the first attempt, while the second throw was invalid. Neeraj then threw his career best in the third attempt. Earlier, his best throw was 89.94 meters, which he achieved in the 2022 Diamond League.

However, Neeraj finished second in Doha Diamond League. Julian Weber of Germany finished first with a throw of 91.06 meters and Grenada’s Peters Anderson finished third with 85.64 meters.

Apart from Neeraj, the middle distance runner Gulveer Singh finished ninth in the 5000 meter race. He completed the race in 13: 24.32 minutes. At the same time, Parul Chaudhary stood at number six with a timing of 9: 13.39 minutes in the women’s 3000 meter staplechase.

Third Asian athlete to score 90m plus Neeraj Chopra has become the third player from Asia to score more than 90 meters in Jewelin Throw. Not only this, he has become the 25th Javelin thrower of the world to do so. Prior to Neeraj, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem threw 92.97 meters in the Paris Olympics 2024, while Cho-Tsun Cheng of Chinese Taipei scored 91.36 meters in the Asian Championship 2017.

Neeraj missed gold from one meter in last season Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Diamond League final of 2024. He threw the best throw of 87.86 meters in his third atampt, but remained 0.01 meters away from becoming the champion. Anderson Peters of Grenada secured the first place by throwing the best throw of 87.87 meters in their first atampt.

What is Diamond League? Dyaming League is a tournament of athletics (track and field), with 16 events of athletics. It is held every year in different cities of the world.

The Diamond League athletics series is held from May to September every year and the season ends with the Diamond League Final. Usually the number of competitions in the Diamond League season is 14, including the final, but sometimes the number changes.

In every event, the top-8 players get points, the first number player gets a point 8 and 8th player. After 13 events, all the players have points count. Players who finish the top-10 positions get a place in the Diamond League finals. In this, the winning player gets the trophy and cash prize of the Diamond League winner.
