NCERT has issued 2 new modules for classes 6 to 8 and 9 to 12. Apart from regular books, these modules are based on the destruction of the partition of the country. In this, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Congress Party and Lord Mountbatten have been convicted of partition.

The module states that Jinnah demanded partition, the Congress accepted it and Mountbatten implemented it. This information has been added to the topic ‘guilty of partition’.

The module also includes an excerpt from a speech by the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru had said, “We have come to a situation where we will either have to accept the division or face constant struggle and anarchy.”

Kashmir also included mention of terrorism

According to the module, between 1947 and 1950, Partition fragmented India’s unity, created hostile borders, promoted mass murders and displacement. Deepened communal mistrust, destroyed the economies of Punjab and Bengal and put Jammu and Kashmir on the path of social, economic and demographic collapse, which later became worse due to terrorism.

Modules do not join regular syllabus

NCERT’s special modules are not part of the course, it is a supplementary material that is designed to explain a particular topic children. It is taught to children by posters, discussions and debates. Recently, Operation Sindoor was also added to the special module.

Part of PM Modi’s speech also included

The words of PM Narendra Modi have also been included in the promotion of the special module. Modi had said, ‘Partition pain can never be forgotten. Millions of our sisters and brothers were displaced and lost their lives due to the uninterrupted and disinterested violence of many people. In memory of conflicts and sacrifice, our people will celebrate Partition on 14 August as Vibhisika Memorial Day.
