There is good news for the students of class 9th to 12th. Now from the next academic session i.e. 2025-26, NCERT books from class 9th to 12th will be available at 20% lower prices. NCERT Director Dinesh Saklani said that this year paper for books has been purchased at very affordable prices.
Besides, the technology of printing press has also improved. Therefore the price of books has come down. Its direct benefit will be given to the students. Dinesh Saklani gave this information during the Bhoomi Pujan program being held for the new auditorium at NCERT Headquarters on 16 November.
There is no change in the prices of books from 1st to 8th
There has been no change in the prices of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books from class 1 to 8. All these books will be sold at the rate of Rs 65 per book only.
There has also been a partnership between NCERT and e-commerce platform Flipkart. The objective of this partnership is to easily deliver NCERT books to remote areas of India. NCERT has been publishing 4-5 crore new textbooks of 300 subjects every year. Since 1963, NCERT has published 220 crore books.
Questions are continuously raised regarding the availability of NCERT books.
Every time a new session starts, students and their parents roam from shop to shop in the market looking for NCERT books, but are unable to get the books. Because of this, parents have to buy expensive books from other publications.
The reason for this is that NCERT is not able to print books as per the demand, hence there is a shortage of books every year when a new academic session starts. However, according to the information received last October, NCERT will print 15 crore books for the next session i.e. 2025-26. This is three times more than the current number. According to NEP 2020, new books for classes 7, 9 and 11 will also come as per the prescribed course.
Skill topics will be added from class 6
Now skills topic has also been added from class 6. Books for skills topics of class 6 and 7 will also come in the next session. Along with books, audio-video, animation and graphics materials in 23 languages on related topics are also being prepared as course packages. There are also preparations to bring Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered interactive e-books.
Editions also published in 22 Indian languages
A senior NCERT official had said that versions of books of all classes are also being published in 22 Indian languages. There will also be a teacher’s handbook along with it.
Online training modules have also been prepared for teachers according to each book. Due to NEP 2020, NCERT books are used as reference books in CBSE schools as well as schools affiliated to other state boards.
NCERT books will be available on Amazon, Flipkart
NCERT has also recently entered into a tie-up with e-commerce company Amazon. NCERT books are now available on the NCERT Storefront on Amazon’s website. Apart from this, NCERT has also partnered with Flipkart on Monday. Now these books will also be available on Flipkart.
