Mohammad Siraj was elected Player of the Match in the Oval Test.
India’s fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has been nominated for the August ICC Player of the Month Award. Apart from him, New Zealand’s Matt Henry and West Indies’ Zayden seals have also been nominated.
Siraj got this nomination for a strong performance in the Oval Test against England. He gave India a thrilling victory of 6 runs with 5 wickets in the last innings. With the help of this victory, India managed to draw the series despite trailing 2–1.
Many players from India and England were injured in this 5 -match series, but Siraj played in 5 consecutive Tests. Not only this, he became the most successful bowler with 23 wickets. He took 185.3 overs.

Mohammad Siraj played only one Test match in August, but he got nomination with the same performance. In the last Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, he won India with a total of 9 wickets. In the absence of Jaspreet Bumrah, Siraj led the attack with full force.
Siraj took 4 wickets in the first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings. India won the Oval Test thanks to his brilliant performance and equalized the series 2-2. He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.

What is ICC Player of the Month Award?
The ICC Player of the Month Award is an award, which the International Cricket Council (ICC) offers every month. This award is given in the male and female category. The award is given on the basis of performance of every month.
Based on a month -long performance, 3 players of each category are nominated. They are elected independent ICC Voting Academy. It consists of former cricketers, well -known sports journalists. Fans from all over the world vote after nomination. On this basis, the winner is decided.
Last month, the award was given to Indian captain Shubman Gill. Shubman scored 5 centuries in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played in England between June and August. England’s batter Sophia Dunkli received the award in Women’s Cricket. He overtook his own team’s Sophie Eklaston and Ireland captaincy Gabi Lewis.
