Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami returned to the field after almost a year. He bowled 10 overs while playing for Bengal at Holkar Stadium in Indore. However, he was also seen struggling while bowling.
According to reports, if Shami proves his fitness in this match, then he can be selected against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from November 22. Shami was not included in the squad released on 25 October. Shami gave 34 runs in 10 overs on the first day while bowling 1 maiden.

Aryan and Kulwant took four wickets each in today’s match. Thanks to 4-4 wickets of Aryan Pandey and Kulwant Khejoria, Madhya Pradesh restricted Bengal to a small score in the Group C match. Bengal’s first innings ended at 228 runs in 51.2 overs. Shahbaz Ahmed scored 92, Anstup Majumdar scored 44 runs.

Selection may happen in Border-Gavaskar Trophy For the last six months, Mohammed Shami was undergoing rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. If Shami proves his fitness in the Ranji match, he can be included in the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
360 days is a long time
Regarding his return, Shami said on his social media handle, 360 days is a very long time. Fully prepared for Ranji Trophy. Now I will play with the same passion and energy on the domestic stage. Let’s make this season memorable. Shami was expected to be selected in the team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Shami’s fitness was being closely monitored before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, he was not selected in the team for the five-Test series. Just before the team was selected, Shami had said that he hoped to go to Australia after playing one or two Ranji Trophy matches for Bengal.
