The Kolkata Knight Riders have questioned the IPL’s decision to give additional 120 minutes for the remaining league matches. Earlier it was an hour. Kolkata says it should have been implemented as the IPL resumes. If this were the case, Kolkata would have been in the play -off race.
IPL gave information about change on Tuesday On Tuesday, the IPL Chief Operating Officer Hemang Amin said in an email to all 10 teams that in view of the rainy season in the recent season, the IPL Governing Council has decided that there will be an additional 120 minutes to start all matches from May 20.
Previously, the conditions of the match playing reported that an additional 60 minutes of additional time was available to start the league matches. In playoff matches, this time was extended to 120 minutes.
In response to Amin’s email, KKR’s CEO Venky Mysore questioned the time of the decision to amend the game’s terms and asked if it can be implemented only after the first match ie RCB Vs KKR after the IPL resume.
Mysore has stated in the email that although these mid-seasons may be necessary in the rules as per the circumstances, more uniformity in the way of implementing such changes may be expected.
RCB and KKR match was canceled due to rain The IPL was suspended for a week on 9 May after increasing tension along the Indo-Pak border. After the announcement of ceasefire between the two countries, it was decided to resume on May 17.
The first match was between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru. It was canceled due to rain. Both teams got 1-1 points. With this, the possibility of KKR reaching the play off was over.
KKR’s hope if the rule was applied earlier Mysore said that if there was an additional two -hour provision in the match between RCB and KKR on May 17, there could have been a possibility of fighting five overs per side.
He said that when the IPL resumed, it was clear that the first match in Bengaluru on 17 May was more likely to rain in the KKR vs RCB. The weather forecast was in front of everyone. Not only the match was washed away, but if the additional 120 -minute rule is now being implemented, it could have been a match of at least 5 overs per team.
He further said that the cancellation of this match ended the chances of KKR reaching the playoffs. Such ad hoc decisions in this level tournament and incompatibility in implementing them are not appropriate. I am sure you can understand why we are feeling cheated.
