1. IAS officer K. Sanjay Murthy appointed as new CAG of India: The central government has appointed senior IAS officer K. Sanjay Murthy has been appointed as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. On November 18, the Finance Ministry issued a notification giving this information. Of. Sanjay Murthy is currently the Secretary in the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. He will replace the current CAG of India Girish Chandra Murmu, whose tenure ends on November 20. Murmu was appointed CAG in August 2020. Earlier, Murmu was the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

It is Asia’s largest technology conference. During this, he announced the establishment of three Global Innovation Centers in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Belagavi.

4. SpaceX launches India’s GSAT-N2 communication satellite: Elon Musk’s SpaceX company launched India’s GSAT-N2 communication satellite on a Falcon 9 rocket at midnight on November 18. The weight of this satellite is 4,700 kg. It has been designed for a mission of 14 years. It was launched from Geo-Stationary Transfer Orbit.

This is the first time that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has sent its communication satellite into space with the help of an American businessman's company.

  • India’s rocket LVM-3 could not carry it, so Space-X was chosen for its launch. India was till now dependent on France’s Ariane Space for launching such heavy satellites.

  • GSAT-N2 will provide mobile internet facility during flight in airplanes.
  • It is noteworthy that GSAT-N2 is the first ISRO spacecraft to be launched into space from an American launch vehicle since 1990, before which INSAT-1D was launched.
  • GSAT 20 satellite has been named GSAT-N2.
  • The GSAT-20 satellite has been specially designed to improve communication systems in remote areas.
  • This satellite will provide broadband internet services to remote Indian areas including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir and Lakshadweep.
  • It will provide internet facility at the speed of 48GBPS.

5. Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali actress ‘Uma Dasgupta’ passed away: On November 18, actress Uma Dasgupta died at the age of 84. She was fighting a battle with cancer for a long time. He breathed his last in a private hospital in Kolkata. Uma Dasgupta’s death has been confirmed by her relative and actor Chiranjeet Chakraborty.
