Joe Root scored a 37th century of his Test career in the Lord’s Test.
England batsman Joe Root has once again finished first in the ICC Test batting rankings. In the third Test played against India at Lord’s, Root scored a brilliant 104 and 40 runs, winning England 22 runs and Root got the number-1 rank back with 888 rating points.
Root overtook England’s Harry Brook (862 points). This route is to become number-1 for the eighth time, and at the age of 34 he is the oldest number-1 batsman after Kumar Sangakkara. From India, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have lost one each while captain Shubman Gill has lost 3 places. Jasprit Bumrah is at the top in the bowling rankings.
Steve fourth and Williamson in second place
Australia’s Steve Smith also jumped one place in the Jamaican Test against the West Indies and jumped a place and is now in fourth place with 816 points. Her fellow Cameron Green has also scored 46 and 42 runs to reach the 29th place (619 points) by making a big jump of 16 places.
Ken Williamson of New Zealand has benefited in the ranking. They are now in second place. While Harry Brook has slipped to the third position.
Bolland achieved a career best ranking
Talking about the bowlers, Scott Bolland got the best ranking of his career by taking 6 wickets including hat -trick in the Jamaica Test. His name has 62 Test wickets at an average of just 16.53 so far.
Australian bowlers continue to dominate
Australian bowlers have dominated the ranking. Names such as Pat Cummins (Third), Josh Hazlewood (Fourth) and Nathan Lion (Eighth) are made in the top-10. Currently, five Australian bowlers are in the top-10, which is the largest team-devotion situation after 6 England bowlers were in the top-12 in 1958.
Washington jumped 12 places
From the West Indies, Shamar Joseph climbed up 15 places to 14th, Justin Greaves 15 places to 65th and Aljari Joseph has climbed two places to 29th position. In the Lord’s Test for India, Washington Sundar has jumped at 12 places to 46th position.
Jadeja top all -rounder
Ravindra Jadeja, who batted brilliantly in the second inning of Lord’s Test, remains the top all -rounder. Australia captain Pat Cummins has gained one place. They have reached fourth place.
Binura Fernando reached up 22 places
There have also been some changes in the T20 rankings, where Nuwan Tushara of Sri Lanka and Rishad Hussain of Bangladesh have jumped 9 and 12 respectively to reach the 16th and 17th positions. Sri Lanka’s binura Fernando has joined the top-50 for the first time by jumping at 22 places.
