1. India to chair the 68th session of the Narcotics Drugs Commission
India has been elected to chair the 68th session of the United Nations Narcotics Drugs Commission. The Indian Embassy in Austria gave this information on 6 December. This is the first time that India has been nominated for the presidency of this important body of the United Nations.
India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Shambhu Kumaran took over as Chairman of the Commission.
2. President laid the foundation stone of 3 new railway projects
President Draupadi Murmu gifted three new railway lines to Odisha on 7 December. This includes the Bangariposhi-Gorumhishani, Budhamra-Chakulia and Badampahar-Kendujhar rail projects, which are being built from Bangariposhi railway station at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district at a cost of Rs 6200 crore.
President Draupadi Murmu is on a five-day visit to Odisha.

1. Clerk recruitment notification released in SBI, application starts from today
State Bank of India (SBI) has released the notification for Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales) Clerk Recruitment. Candidates can apply online on the official website of the bank, sbi.co.in.
Educational Qualification:
- Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Candidates who are in the last semester of degree course can also apply.
Age Limit:
- Minimum: 20 years
- Maximum: 28 years
- The age of the candidates will be calculated as on 1st April 2024.
Salary:
Rs 24,050 – 64,480 per month
2. Recruitment of graduates in India Infrastructure Finance Company
India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) has released the recruitment notification for the posts of Assistant Manager. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website iifcl.in.
Educational Qualification:
- Post Graduation degree from recognized university.
- Must have minimum 1 year experience at officer level in finance sector, banks, finance organizations.
Age Limit:
21 – 30 years
Fees:
- SC/ST/PWBD: Rs 100
- UR/EWS/OBC: Rs 600
Selection Process:
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of Online Examination (Phase-I) and Interview – Technical & Behavioral (Phase II).

1. Khan Sir detained by police
On Friday evening, students demonstrated vigorously in the Commission’s office against the normalization of BPSC’s 70th Combined Competitive Examination. Patna’s famous teacher Khan Sir also participated in this demonstration in support of the students, who was taken into custody by the police.
He was taken to Gardnibagh police station in Patna. However, he was released after one and a half hour. Bihar DSP Anu Kumari said that demonstration without permission is illegal, hence action has been taken. After Khan sir, Rehman sir was also detained by the police, who was released after an hour.
2. IBPS SO Mains Admit Card released
Institute of Banking Personal Selection has released the admit card for IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) mains exam. Admit cards can be downloaded by visiting the official website ibps.in. Mains exam will be held on 14 December 2024. Candidates who pass Prelims will appear in Mains.
How to download IBPS SO Mains admit card
- Go to the official website of IBPS, ibps.in.
- Click on CRP-SPL-XIV link on the homepage.
- Click on Online Main Exam Call Letter.
- Enter your date of birth and roll number in the new tab.
- After clicking on the submit button, the admit card will appear on the screen.
3. 85 new KVs are to be opened across the country.
85 new central and 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas will be opened across the country. Of these, 11 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be opened in Madhya Pradesh. The Economic Affairs Committee of the Central Government has approved it. After the approval of this committee headed by PM Modi, these schools will be started under civil and defense sector.
