The Indian tennis team created history in BL city of Switzerland on Saturday. India defeated Switzerland 3–1 in the Davis Cup 2025 World Group I. This is India’s first win against a team in Europe in 32 years. The last time this achievement was received against France in 1993. With this victory, the Indian team confirmed a place in the Davis Cup 2026 qualifier.
The Indian suffered a defeat in the doubles match on Saturday. The pair of Yakub Paul and Dominic Striker of Switzerland defeated N Sriram Balaji and Ritwik Bolppalli 6-7, 6-4, 7-5. Sumit Nagal then defeated Henry Burnett 6–1, 6-3. With this, India defeated Switzerland 3–1.
