The Indian team for the Champions Trophy will be announced on Saturday, January 18. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma will announce the team at 12:30 pm at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This information has been given by BCCI. The board has sent a media invitation in this regard on Friday.

The Champions Trophy is to be held from February 19 to March 9 at four venues in Pakistan and UAE. These include Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Dubai. All the matches of the Indian team will be played in Dubai.

11 players confirmed to play in ODI World Cup It is certain that 11 players who will play the 2023 ODI World Cup will be selected in the team. After the ODI World Cup, India played only 6 ODIs. Of these also, senior players were a part of only 3. India had won all the matches in the World Cup except the final. Considering so few matches played after the tournament, it seems that the Champions Trophy team will also be similar to the ODI World Cup team.

Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin may be out of this team. Ashwin has retired, while Shardul has not been selected in the team since Gautam Gambhir became the coach. On the other hand, Surya and Ishaan have got their cards removed from the ODI team due to poor form and behaviour. In such a situation, the team management will have to rack their brains to find replacements for these players.

It is being told that BCCI is waiting for the fitness report of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. According to reports, Bumrah will not be able to play the group stage. Mohammed Shami has not played an international match yet after recovering from injury, while Kuldeep Yadav had also undergone surgery recently. The selection of all three players has become a headache for the management.

India’s possible playing-11

Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah.
