Virat Kohli retired from this format after winning the T20 World Cup on 29 June 2024.

The ICC updated the T20 ranking system on Wednesday. With this, Virat Kohli, who retired from this format in 2024, made a unique record. He became the first cricket in the world to achieve more than 900 rating points in all three formats.

Virat’s best rating points in T20 were 897, which has now increased to 909. He achieved these points in 2014, which increased after the ranking system was updated. Virat has achieved 937 in Tests and 909 rating points in ODIs only in 2018.

Virat also said goodbye to Test cricket on May 12 in this year. He did not retire from ODIs, in whose batting rankings he is currently at number four.

Gains third best rating in T20 history On 29 June 2024, Virat scored 76 against South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup. The team won, after which Virat retired from T20. The ICC makes some changes in its ranking system every year. This brings a mild change in the rankings of many players. With this, Virat’s points increased from 897 to 909, which also led to a record of 900 plus rating points in his name.

Virat’s 897 rating points took place on 7 September 2014. Kohli has also been the number-1 batter in this format for 1202 consecutive days. After acquiring 909 points, he became the third batter to achieve the best rating points in T20 history. England’s David Malan is first with 919 points and India’s Suryakumar Yadav is second with 912 rating points.

After the ICC rankings update, Virat’s name became a record of remaining number-1 T20 batter for 1202 days. There was no player in the world at number-1 rank more than him.

In 2018, all three were formed together in format Virat Kohli was the first time in Test format in 2018. He then scored 593 runs in England. After this tour, Virat became the number-1 test batter with 937 points. Meanwhile, there were 909 rating points in Virat’s ODI.

During his best form in 2018, Virat also set a record of staying number-1 rank in all three formats. Apart from Kohli, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has been the number-1 batter in all three formats at one time. Apart from these 2, Matthew Hayden of Australia and Jaspreet Bumrah of India could become the number-1 player in all three formats. However, Hayden and Bumrah became the number-1 player in all three formats at different times.

Virat Kohli could not score 10,000 runs in the Test, but in 2020 the ICC made him the captain of the Best Test team of the decade.

Is Virat, the world’s best all format player? After the T20 rankings update, a question again arose whether Virat Kohli is the best all format player in the world? Finding the answer to this, Virat scored 14181 in ODIs, 4188 in T20 and 9230 runs in Tests. He was the 19th top scorer in the Test, but is the third top run scorer in ODIs and T20s. If Virat becomes the top scorer in a single format, then you can definitely top the race to become the best all format.

On the other hand, looking at the ICC rankings, the Virat was the batter to achieve the 11th best rating points in the Virat Test in history. The third was the third in T20 and the sixth best rank batter in ODIs. His names are 82 centuries including all three formats. Which is the highest after Sachin Tendulkar. No Indian could achieve better rating points than Virat in the ICC rankings. There are no 900 rating points in Sachin’s format.

Is Virat Best All Format Player or not? The ICC definitely gave the answer from its rankings, but Virat’s test figures lead them to some extent in this case.
