Shohli Akhtar played 13 T20s for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh spinner Shohli Akhtar has been banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for 5 years. He was found guilty of fixing in the Women’s T20 World Cup of 2023. Shohli became the first female cricketer to be banned due to corruption.
Akhtar violated the ICC’s Article 2.1.1, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.7. Shohli confessed his crime, so he was banned for 5 years. His ban will start from 10 February 2025 and will remain till February 2030.
Shohli also encouraged fellow player for corruption According to the ICC, ‘Shohli messaged her fellow player before the match against Australia on 14 February 2023. He sent a voice note and provoked fellow player to fix Bangladesh in the next matches.

Akhtar told the fellow player that his ‘cousin’ bets on his mobile. Cousin wants to have a hit wicket on the same ball against the player Pace Baller in the match against Australia. If the player is fixing, then he will get 20 lakh Bangladesh Taka. The money will come from there, where their cousin will bet.
Akhtar told the fellow player that if they want, you can get more than 20 lakhs. Both of them will be secret and if the player wants, it can also refuse this deal. Akhtar said in the voice note that after the matter is over, she will delete the message. He also deleted the message again.
Fellow player did not accept the deal The ICC reported that the player with whom Shhali had talked about fixing did not accept and complemented. He also sent a copy of the voice note to the ICC. Speaking to the Anti Corruption Unit (ACU), Shohli accepted her crime. However, she told that she was just wanting to tell cousin that no player of the Bangladesh team was involved in corruption.
Akhtar said that she was just challenging her player. He showed the screenshot and said that he is not involved in corruption. However, the review revealed that the screenshot was taken on 14 February after provoking the player.
Shohli Akhtar has been banned from cricket for 2030.
Akhtar finally accepted the mistake The ICC said that Akhtar accepted his mistake after questioning. He told that he had sent himself messages with screenshots through 2 separate mobiles. Akhtar admitted that she was in contact with Bukuki since 2022. She was then involved in corruption.
