Indian Grand Master D Gukesh once again could not convert a strong position into victory against Ding Liren in the final match of the World Chess Championship. The 8th round match between the two ended in a draw on Wednesday in Singapore. Both agreed to a draw after 51 moves in a game that lasted four and a half hours.
This was the sixth draw of the final match of 14 rounds. Both got 0.5-0.5 points from this game. After this draw, both players have 4 points each, which is still 3.5 points less than the 7.5 points required to win the championship. Before this, the matches of second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds were also drawn. 32 year old Liren won the first round, while 18 year old Gukesh won the third round match.
