The second game of the World Chess Championship between Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh and defending champion Ding Liren was a draw on Tuesday. Liren had defeated Gukesh in the first game on 25 November. In the match that lasted 14 games, Liren had a score of 1.5 and Gukesh had a score of 0.5.
The FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 continues in Singapore. 14 games will be played in this. It will run till December 12. If necessary, a tiebreaker match will be played, which will take place on December 13.
This is the first time in the history of the World Chess Championship that two Asian players are facing each other to become the world champion.

Gukesh and Ding will get 1 point for winning a game and 0.5 points for a draw. 7.5 points are needed to win the championship. Gukesh won the Candidates Chess Tournament in Toronto in April. He became the youngest player (17 years) to do so. Before Gukesh, Russian player Garry Kasparov had won this tournament in 1984 at the youngest age of 22.
Who is D Gukesh? D Gukesh’s full name is Domaraju Gukesh and he is a resident of Chennai. Gukesh was born on 7 May 2006 in Chennai. He started playing chess at the age of 7. He was initially coached by Bhaskar Nagaiah.
Nagaiah has been an international level chess player and is a home chess tutor in Chennai. After this, Vishwanathan Anand gave coaching to Gukesh along with giving him information about the game. Gukesh’s father is a doctor and mother is a microbiologist by profession.
