The current World Chase Champion D Gukesh’s Norway Chess tournament was very poor in 2025. He suffered defeat in both the initial matches. In the second round played on Tuesday, he was defeated by compatriot Arjun Arigasi.

Who is D Gukesh? The full name of Gukesh D is Domamaraju Gukesh. He hails from Chennai. Gukesh was born on 7 May 2006 in Chennai. He started playing chess at the age of 7. He was initially given coaching by Bhaskar Nagaiya.
Nagaiya has been an international chase player and Chase has a home tutor in Chennai. After this, Vishwanathan Anand gave Gukesh coaching along with giving information about the game. Gukesh’s father is a doctor and mother is a microbiologist by profession.
Gukesh current world champion Gukesh won the title by defeating Ding Liran of China 7.5-6.5 in the World Chase Championships played in Singapore in December. Gukesh is the first player in the world to win the World Chase Championship at the age of 18. Earlier in 1985, Russia’s Gary Casparov won the title at the age of 22.
Gukesh won the title by defeating the Chinese player in the 14th game. The championship final started on 25 November, 13 games were played between the two by 11 December.
Gukesh also won the Chase Olympiad Chase Olympiad was held in Budapest last year from 10 to 23 September. India became champions in both Open and Women’s category. In the open category, Gukesh won the final game and won India.
