World Athletics has implemented SRY gene test for athletes participating in the women’s category. On Wednesday, the World Athletics Council has approved the new rules related to eligibility to participate in the women’s category of world ranking competitions.
These rules will be applicable from 1 September 2025. Not only this, the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo from September 13 will also be applicable. According to world athletics, it will be mandatory for all athletes who wish to participate in the women’s category, it will be mandatory to conduct sry gene test once in life. This test will be through cheek through swab or blood sample. This test will be able to identify gender.

Our goal is to protect the dignity and fairness of women’s games. We believe that if a woman comes to the Games, she should believe that there is no biological barrier. Confirming biological gender is an important step.
