Shardul Thakur is currently on a tour of England for five Tests with the Indian team.
The West Zone team has been announced for the Dalip Trophy. The West Zone Selection Committee has appointed Shardul Thakur as the captain of 15 members squads for the upcoming Dalip Trophy matches. The team was announced after a meeting held at MCA’s Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy on Friday (1 August).
The team consists of seven players from Mumbai, four from Gujarat and two each from Maharashtra and Saurashtra. The tournament will start from August 28.
Gaekwad also part of the team Apart from Thakur, the big names of Mumbai include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan. Rituraj Gaikwad of Maharashtra is also part of the team. Meanwhile, Indian players Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have not found a place in the team.
Sarfaraz Khan is also part of the West Zone team.
West Zone Team: Shardul Thakur (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arya Desai, Harvik Desai, Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Rituraj Gaekwad, Jaymeet Patel, Manan Hingrajia, Saurabh Navale, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Dharmendra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande, Arjan Nagwaswala.
Standby player- Mahesh Pithia, Shivalik Sharma, Mukesh Chaudhary, Siddharth Desai, Chintan Gaja, Mushir Khan and Urvil Patel.
West Zone team will start their campaign from September 4 The tournament will begin on August 28 with a two quarter -finals. West Zone has got a directly in the semi -finals. The team will start their campaign from 4 September. The final will be played from September 11. All matches will be held at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground in Bangalore.
Duleep Trophy will be played in Zone format This year the Dalip Trophy will again be played in zone -based format. The last time it was played between four teams (A, B, C, D). Now the selection will be done by the zonal selection committee. Former Indian fast bowler L Balaji will be the head coach of this team.
