Dinesh Karthik recently overtook MS Dhoni in the list of batsmen who scored the most runs in T20. Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman was surprised to know that he recently achieved this milestone during South Africa’s T20 League SA20.
Karthik said to the media on Sunday on the question of Dainik Bhaskar, “It was very good to know that I left Dhoni (Mahi) behind, but he would overtake me very soon.”
Karthik is the first Indian to play in SA20. He scored 144 runs in 11 matches playing for Parl Royals in the third season of the recently ended league. During this time, he overtook his former partner Dhoni in the list of batsmen who scored the most runs in T20 cricket.

He further said, it was very good to know that I left Dhoni behind, but very soon he would overtake me. If they do this, I will not really have any problem. I am happy with this, that this record (the player scoring the most runs as a wicketkeeper) was with him. I do not even know which record this record, which is being talked about. But, it was nice to know about it. He said, but it is not anything I want or what I really want.
Karthik’s name 7537 runs in T20 cricket Playing this season of Karthik SA20 League, MS Dhoni left behind in the list of batsmen who scored the most runs in T20. Karthik achieved this record on January 27, 2025 in the match played between Parl Royals and Durban Super Giants. In this match, Karthik scored 21 runs off 15 balls. After leaving Dhoni behind, Karthik’s name has scored 7537 runs in T20 cricket. At the same time, Dhoni has scored 7432 runs in T20 cricket.
