Devjit Saikia, the interim secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will be the next secretary of the board. He has filed nomination for the post of Secretary. The last date for nomination was January 4, apart from him no one else filled the nomination form.

By-elections will be held for the posts of Secretary and Treasurer in BCCI on January 12. Since there is no other candidate, Saikia will continue on the post of secretary. He took over in December from Jay Shah, who has now become the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
