The result of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2025) will change due to a decision of Delhi High Court. The High Court, while hearing the petition of a candidate Aditya Singh, admitted mistakes in two questions and ordered to correct the result. The High Court has ordered the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) to release the new result by making corrections related to question numbers 14 and 100 of Set-A.
‘Two questions are clearly wrong, injustice cannot be done blindly’: High Court
CLAT was held on 1st December 2024. The final answer key was to be released on December 9 and the result on December 10, but the consortium declared the final answer key and result simultaneously late night on December 7 without any prior notice. There were complaints of mistakes in the result, but counseling was started without resolving them.
Pankaj Vivek, father of Aditya Singh, who had given CLAT, filed a petition in the Delhi High Court challenging the result. He had demanded cancellation of the final answer key and stopping of counselling. On this, High Court Judge Jyoti Singh accepted the petition as legitimate and gave its verdict. He has ordered to correct the wrong answers of question numbers 14 and 100 of Set-A of the paper and release the new result only after that.
In its decision, the court said, ‘There are clear mistakes in question numbers 14 and 100. Putting a blindfold on this would be injustice to the petitioner. The court also said that it is aware that this may affect the results of other candidates as well. The court said, ‘Benefit should be given to all those candidates who had given C as the answer to the 14th question of Set A, because the court and the expert committee have considered C as the correct answer. According to the advice of the expert committee, question number 100 should be removed from the question paper and a new result should be prepared.
According to CLAT expert Sagar Joshi, after this decision not only the result but also the rank of many students will change.
