Matthew Kuhneman made a Test debut against India in 2023.
The ICC has acquitted Australia’s left -arm spinner Matthew Kuhneman for illegal bowling action. They will now be able to bowl again in international cricket. He gave a test in Queensland last week, the ICC passed him in the Test on 26 February.
Kuhneman’s bowling action was found suspicious during the Test series against Sri Lanka in January this year. He was accused that while bowling, his elbow was turning more than 15 degrees, which is against the bowling rules of the ICC. Despite this, he bowled and took 16 wickets in 2 Tests. Australia won the series 2–0.

Kuhneman’s bowling was examined at the National Cricket Center in Brisbane. During the Test, Matt was asked to bowl at the same speed as he did during the second Test in Gaul. During this time he was wearing markers on his body and was surrounded by many high-speed cameras and 3-d motion analysis systems.
The ICC’s specialist team found that the angle of their elbow is according to the rules while bowling. After which he was allowed to play international cricket again.
Kuhneman has taken 25 wickets in 5 Tests for Australia.
Kuhneman played 5 Tests and 4 ODIs
Matt played 124 professional matches since his first class debut in 2017. He made ODI debut in 2022 and Test in 2023. After which he played 5 Tests and 4 ODIs from Australia. He has taken 25 wickets in Tests and 6 wickets in ODIs.
He also made a Big Bash League debut in 2018. He has played 55 matches in BBL so far. This is the first time in these eight years of professional cricket when the action of left arm spinner Kuhnemann was questioned.
