The IPL 2025 title was won by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The team became the IPL champion for the first time.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has earned a record-breaking breaking in the financial year 2023-24 and its total income was Rs 9742 crore. According to a report by a firm Redifurn, the largest part of this earning came from the Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL alone contributed Rs 5,761 crore. That is, 59% of the board’s total earnings came from IPL.
BCCI earned Rs 361 crore from non-IPL media rights. The IPL has now become a source of BCCI’s biggest income and is also giving big opportunities to domestic cricket players including Ranji Trophy.
This year RCB won the IPL title by defeating PBks by 6 runs.
BCCI has Rs 30,000 crore in reserve Sandeep Goyal, managing director of the Redification, said, BCCI has a great ability to commercially increase domestic tournaments like Ranji Trophy, Dalip Trophy and CK Naidu Trophy, which can increase non-IPL revenue. The board has about Rs 30,000 crore in the reserve, which gives interest of about Rs 1,000 crore every year.
