Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) may be a postpone. BPL chairman Mehboob Anam has said that the upcoming BPL season can be done in May instead of December-January.
Mehboob Anam gave this information after an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday (July 10).
Anam said, this decision will be taken keeping in mind the general elections to be held in the country in the country in early 2026.
A day before this, Chief Advisor Prof. Muhammad Yunus had instructed all agencies to complete the election preparations by December.
After the government’s decision, we will talk further- Mehboob Mehboob said, the date of BPL can change due to elections. It will be either before December or plan to be done in May. We will take the next step only after the government’s decision.

On July 11 this year, Mehboob Anam was made the new chairman of BPL.
New agency will get the responsibility of organizing There have been many disputes in the BPL event several times before. This time BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) wants to appoint an experienced sports marketing agency, which has previously organized the International T20 Leagues.
On the event, Mehboob said, “Earlier we had given responsibility to some clumsy agencies which caused damage. This time only experienced and qualified agency will be selected.
Focus on increasing brand value Mehboob Anam said that BPL should become a strong identity of its own. BCB will try its best to increase the brand value of the league this time.
New stadiums will be increased Mehboob said, currently three places, Dhaka, Chatgram and Silhat are played against BPL. Now new venues can be added to it.
Bogura and Khulna Stadiums are being investigated. Work is going on at Barishal Stadium and the monarchy is also being prepared. Whoever meets the stadium ICC’s standards and the accommodation of the players will be included in the BPL.
New 5 years plan Mehboob said that the next BPL season will be held under a new five -year plan. Many companies have shown interest in the league, but they will be selected only when the new financial model is ready.
India tour postponed on 5 June India’s visit to Bangladesh to be held on 5 June from August 17 was postponed for one year. According to the Indian Board, Team India will now visit Bangladesh in September next year instead of August 2025.
BCCI did not explain the reasons for re-schedules. It is believed that this decision was taken due to deteriorating relations and security between India and Bangladesh in the recent past. India is going to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20s going to Bangladesh next year.
