Indian badminton players HS Prannoy and Priyanshu Rajawat have lost in the first round of the India Open badminton tournament. Wednesday was the second day of this competition being played in New Delhi.

In the round of 32, Priyanshu was defeated by world number 7 Kodai Naraoka of Japan 21-16, 20-22, 21-13. While HS Prannoy was defeated by Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei 16-21, 21-18, 21-12.

Anupama reached the second round of women’s singles In the women’s singles category of the competition, former national champion Anupama Upadhyay reached the second round of this Super-750 competition. She defeated India’s Rakshita Sri 21-17, 21-18. Both are good friends outside the training court of Gopichand Academy.

In the morning matches, Akarshi Kashyap was defeated by Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-17, 21-13. While Malvika Bansod was defeated by world number four Han Yui of China 21-16, 21-11. World No. 1 Olympic champion An Si Young of Korea defeated Chiu Pin Chien of Chinese Taipei 22-20, 21-15.

Tanisha-Ashwini pair in next round The pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa entered the second round in the women’s doubles category by defeating Kavya Gupta and Radhika Sharma 21-11, 21-12. Rituparna and Swetaparna Panda defeated Thailand’s P Amvarisrisakul and Sarisa Janpeng 7-21, 21-19, 21-14.
