BCCI has announced India’s Under-19 team for the tour of England on Thursday. There will be a total of 16 members in this team and 17 -year -old Ayush Mhatre will take command of the team. On this tour, the Indian team will play one warm-up, five ODIs and two multi-day matches from 24 June to 23 July. Apart from Ayush, 14 -year -old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been given a place in the team.
Ayush is playing cricket since the age of 6 years
Ayush Mhatre was born on 16 July 2007 in Valunje, Maharashtra. Ayush started playing cricket from the age of 6. To fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer, Ayush used to travel 80 km every day from Virar to Wankhede Stadium in Churchgate. After this, at the age of 15, Ayush decided to step into professional cricket.
First class debut at the age of 17
Ayush Mhatre made her first class cricket debut at the age of 17 as an opening batter. He played 2024-25 Irani Cup from Mumbai. In the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, Ayush scored 176 runs and scored his first century.
During the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2024, he scored 181 runs in 117 balls. With this, he became the youngest cricketer to score 150+ runs in Main List A cricket, breaking the record of Yashshvi Jaiswal.
IPL was sold without selling in 2025
Ayush Jaiswal was not purchased in the IPL this year but was included in the team after Chennai Super Kings captain Rituraj Gaikwad was injured. On 20 April 2025, Ayush made an IPL debut. He played against Mumbai Indians on behalf of Chennai Super Kings.
In his first match, he got down to bat at number three and scored 32 runs in 15 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. He is the youngest player to play IPL.
