World number-1 tennis player Jannik Sinner has reached the men’s singles fourth round of the Australian Open. Defending champion Sinner defeated American Marcos Giron 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday at Rod Laver Arena.
Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek reached the fourth round of the women’s singles tournament with an easy win over Britain’s Emma Raducanu. Swiatek won the last 11 games of the match to defeat 2021 US Open champion Raducanu 6-1, 6-0.

Balaji pair is out after losing India’s N Sriram Balaji and his Mexican partner Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela were eliminated after losing. The pair of Balaji and Varela had to face defeat 6-7 (7), 6-4, 3-6. The first set was quite exciting which lasted for 56 minutes.
History of Australian Open The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year. The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia started this tournament in 1905, which was previously called the Australian Championships. The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia later became Tennis Australia. After this the Australian Championship was renamed Australian Open. From 1969 this tennis tournament became officially known as the Australian Open.
It’s the first Grand Slam of the year There are 4 Grand Slams in tennis. All four are held annually, starting with the Australian Open in January. The French Open takes place in May and June. Wimbledon is held in July and US Open is held in August-September. The US Open is the last Grand Slam of the year.

Team India announced for Champions Trophy, Shami returns
BCCI on Saturday announced Team India for the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy. At the Mumbai Wankhede Stadium, selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma revealed the names of the 15-member Indian team. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has returned to the team after a year.
