India won 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals on the eighth day of the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shimkant, Kazakhstan.

At the Women’s Trap event, India won the gold medal in both individual and team event. Neeru Dhanda won gold in individual, while India also captured the gold medal in a junior woman 25m pistol.

Three medals found in women trap India received three medals at the women’s trap event. Neeru Dhanda and Ashima Ahlawat made the fifth and sixth place in the qualification with 107 points. Preity Raja was out in qualification with 105 points. Qatar’s Ray Basil finished first with 110 points. Neeru performed brilliantly in the final. Initially there was a tough fight between India’s Neeru and Ashima, Qatar’s Ray Basil and Japan’s Nanami Miyasaka. Later, Liu Van-U of Chinese Taipei also emerged as a challenge. Neeru set all 10 hits in 22 out of the last 25 and the last 10 targets, making him a gold medal with 43 hits.

Ashima and Ray Basil were on par with 29 hits, but Ashima got bronze and Ray got silver based on Bib number.

India’s trio (Neeru, Ashima, Preeti) also won the team Gold with 319 points, which was 18 points ahead of China (301).

All three medals in junior women’s 25m pistol Payal Khatri, Namya Kapoor and Tejaswini of India performed brilliantly in the junior women’s 25m pistol. In the final, the three Indian players fought with each other, overtaking the rivals of Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia. Payal made 36 hits with four hits in the sixth to ninth series and 5/5 in 10th series and won gold. Namya won Silver with 30 hits and Tejaswini won the bronze medal with 27 hits. In addition, Payal, Tejaswini and Riya Shirish Tatte (554 points) together won the team silver medal with 1700 points, in which Korea won gold. Earlier, Namya finished first in qualification with 581 points, while Tejaswini finished second with 577 points and Payal with 569 points.

Silver to Bhavnish in male trap In the men’s trap, Bhavanish Mendiratta of India finished fourth in qualification with 118 points (25,24,22,24). In the final, he faced the Paris Olympic silver medalist Quie Ying, China. Bhavnish made 45 hits performing brilliantly, but had to be content with the silver medal in front of Qui’s 47 hits.

India tops the medal tally India topped the championship with 28 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals.
