Former Australian captain Allan Border handing over the trophy to Virat Kohli.
Former Australian captain Allan Border has expressed disappointment over Australia’s inability to dismiss Virat Kohli in the Perth Test. He said- Australian team gave Kohli a chance to score a century. Due to this the host may have to lose the 5 match series.
69-year-old Border told SEN Radio on Friday – ‘I am disappointed with the way we allowed Kohli to score a century without resistance. We don’t want this boy (Kohli) to play with confidence in the entire series.
Kohli has returned to form by scoring a century in the second innings of the Perth Test. He could not score a single Test century in the last one and a half years. India won that match by 295 runs. At present, Team India is leading 1-0 in the series. The second Test will be played in Adelaide from 6 December.
Pat Cummins’ captaincy questioned Border also raised questions on the strategy of captain Pat Cummins. He said- He (Pat Cummins) gave Kohli a chance to regain his rhythm after struggling in the home series against New Zealand. Kohli has scored his 7th century in Australia.
Hayden also got angry and said- there was a delay in bowling the short ball. Former opening batsman Matthew Hayden also criticized Cummins. Hayden told Channel 7, ‘Kohli should have been dismissed at the beginning of his innings. The field placements were such that he scored easily, whereas they were under pressure earlier.
Hayden said that Australia was also late in bowling the short ball. Jaiswal was also not able to play the short ball. Perhaps Pat Cummins should have used such balls earlier. The Indian team was under pressure due to poor performance in the first innings, but now the team is playing openly.
