Royal Challengers Bangalore have won the title of IPL i.e. Indian Premier League for the first time. In this, Rajat Patidar, a resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, took charge of the team. For the first time in IPL, Rajat was captaining a team and this season he has won 11 matches for his team.
Rajat scored 312 runs in 15 matches in this IPL at a strike rate of 143.77. This season, he has also put two fifty. So far he has scored 1111 runs in the IPL. Silver is the batter and off-spinner of the right-hand top order.
Dada first recognized talent
Rajat was born on 1 June 1993 in a business family in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Rajat started playing cricket from the age of 8. His talent was first recognized by his grandfather and admitted to a cricket academy.
He is survived by father Manohar Patidar, mother Manju Patidar, brother Mahendra Patidar and sister Sunita Patidar.
Rajat has studied at New Digambar Jain Public School. He started his career as a bowler and focused on batting after the under-15. As 10 years old, he started playing matches with boys older than his age.
Whenever the silver is in Indore, he definitely goes to see Khajrana Ganesh. He likes the mother’s hand food.

Coach raced for a month to take the exam
Rajat’s childhood coach Ram Atre told that he always used to see a great player in it. Once, Rajat was also trained with former cricketer Amay Khorasia. Amay only ran him for a month to take the silver test. Started training in cricket after a month.
Coach recalls Rajat’s childhood days and says, ‘His father used to bring it to the ground in Dussehra ground. Its attention was on cricket. There was no laughter or any other activity. The boundary of 30 yards was also not crossed with silver. Initially, we used to bowl, keep keeping, but we used to take special care for not hurt. So that it can focus on bowling-box.
Entry in Ranji Trophy since 2015
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, Rajat Patidar was made the captain of the Madhya Pradesh cricket team, where he was the second highest run-scorer of the tournament scoring 428 runs with 5 half centuries at an average of 61.14 in 9 innings and 5 half centuries at a strike rate of 186.08.
Rajat Patidar also holds a record of scoring the 5th fastest century in the Ranji Trophy, he scored 100 runs in just 68 balls against Haryana. At the end of this match, his score was 159 runs.
Marriage was postponed for cricket
Rajat was married to Gunjan Patidar of Ratlam in the year 2022. Both were about to get married in May but because Rajat had to play for RCB, they had postponed their marriage and did not do so many times.
In the 2022 IPL playoffs, Rajat won the century team against Lucknow Super Giants. After this, his place in the team was confirmed and he had to extend his marriage date once again. Rajat keeps his personal life very private. People do not know much information about his wife.
In 2022, Rajat Patidar married Gunjan Patidar.
Got a chance in IPL when someone is injured, leaving the team
In the year 2021, the silver Patidar was included in the RCB but this year he could not perform anything special. He remained without selling in the 2022 auction but was included in the RCB after Luvanith Sisodia was injured. In the same year, he confirmed a place in a century innings game team against Lucknow Super Giants.
In IPL 2023, RCB retained him but could not play due to heel injury. After this, in the year 2024, 395 runs in 13 innings. Rajat was made the captain of the team in 2025 after Faf du Plessis separated from RCB.
In 2024, Rajat Patidar was included in the Indian team in place of Virat Kohli for the first two matches of the Test series against England.
Shreyas Iyer and Kohli’s replacement appeared in ODIs
In October 2022, he joined the One-Day International team for the series against South Africa. In February 2023, he was included in the ODI team against New Zealand due to the injury of Shreyas Iyer. However, silver failed to make it to the playing XI on both occasions.
On 21 December 2023, he scored 22 runs in 16 balls in ODI debut against South Africa. In January 2024, he was included in the team in place of Virat Kohli in India’s team for the first two matches of the Test series against England. He made his Test debut in the second match of the series on 2 February 2024. In this, he scored 41 runs.
Apart from cricket, Rajat Patidar is also fond of playing football.
KKR captain Venkatesh played under the captaincy of Rajat
Rajat Patidar started his career as a bowler. After the under-15, he focused on batting. He also had to undergo surgery after a knee injury while playing football in 2014. Silver stayed away from the ground for 8 months. To improve the batting technique further, Patidar took training from former Indian batsman Amay Khurasia.
He took charge of Madhya Pradesh from 2019 to 2024 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Patidar won 12 matches during this period while four faced defeated. Rajat had taken Madhya Pradesh to 2024-25 SMAT finals under his captaincy, where he was defeated from Mumbai. KKR vice -captain Venkatesh Iyer of Indore has also played in this series.
Silver Patidar was the second highest run-scorer in 2024–25 SMAT. The right -handed batsman scored 428 runs in 9 innings at an average of 61.14.
