1. Ramsar sites number 2 and increased to 91
On June 4, two new wetland sites i.e. wetland sites have been included in the list of Ramsar sites in India. Both of these new Ramsar sites- Khchan and Menar are in Rajasthan. With this, the total number of Ramsar sites in the country has increased to 91.
Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupendra Yadav gave information about this by tweeting.
- Wetland is famous for migratory birds such as Khichan, Jodhpur and especially Demoisel Crane (Kurjan).
- Wetland is in Menar, Udaipur and this place is rich in biodiversity and provides important housing for many Jalas.
- He was declared a place of Ramsar on the eve of World Environment Day 2025.
- He was recognized as an wetland of international importance under Ramsar Convention.
- This convention is an international treaty signed in the city of Ramsar in Iran in 1971, which promotes the preservation of humid and their resources.
- India implemented the treaty on 1 February 1982.
- India is now the country with the most (91) Ramsar sites in Asia, and is third in the world after the United Kingdom (176) and Mexico (144).
- Tamil Nadu has the highest number of 20 Ramsar sites, followed by Uttar Pradesh (10).
2. V. Srinivas became the President of ‘IIAS’
On June 4, V. Srinivas of India was elected President of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences i.e. IIAS. His term will be from 2025-2028.
Srinivas is the Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grivanses, ie Darpg, Government of India.
- This is the first time India has achieved this position in the history of 100 years of IIAS.
- This is the first time the president was elected through the voting process.
- In November 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominated V. Srinivas as the candidate of India.
- On May 4, 2025, India won the IIAS for the tenure of 2025-2028.
- IIAS is a global non-profit organization, which began in 1930 in Belgium.
- It is a group of 31 countries, 20 national branches and 15 research centers, which conducts research to improve public administration and governance.
- IIAS works closely with two important organizations of the United Nations-Un-CEPA and Unpan.
- India has been a member of IIAS since 1998, and represents the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grivanses (DARPG).

1. Delhi High Court rejected the petition filed on CUET exam
